Profil du site de plongée
El Fanadir is a long reef that runs roughly north-south parallel to the Hurghada coast. The standard dive follows the reef wall on one side, with entry and exit points chosen around the day's current. Shallower sections around 5 to 12 metres hold coral gardens, while the deeper shoulder drops into the 20 to 30 metre range along the wall. Because the reef is long, groups can split direction so that certified divers get a proper drift while newer divers stay in the calmer shoulder.
Faune marine possible
Expect schools of anthias blanketing the coral heads, blue-spotted stingrays resting on sandy patches, moray eels tucked into the reef and the occasional hawksbill turtle grazing on sponges. Glassfish gather under table corals, and lionfish are easy to spot in the late afternoon. On deeper sections, napoleon wrasse and large groupers are regular visitors.

El Fanadir is diveable year-round. The best visibility (typically 20 to 30 metres) comes in spring and autumn. Summer brings warmer water at 28 to 30 degrees but occasional plankton blooms. Winter water is cooler (around 22 degrees) and the northerly wind can limit access on stronger-wind days.
Conditions habituelles
Visibility sits between 15 and 30 metres depending on season. Current is generally mild to moderate and predictable, which is why this reef is chosen so often for training. Surface conditions can turn choppy when the north wind picks up, which is when we shift the boat to the sheltered side.
Organisation et points pratiques

Keep a close eye on your computer around the wall - the vertical profile makes depth creep easy. Mid-dive, swing out into the blue briefly to scan for schooling jacks and barracuda. A dive torch pays off in the late-afternoon slot when reef overhangs come alive with glassfish and hunting lionfish.
